Basil (with cricket bat in-hand)

It is with immense sadness that we have learned of the recent death of Basil Hylton.

Basil joined Moseley Cricket Club in the late 1970's and established himself as a key member of the First XI with his flamboyant stroke-play and the happy knack of taking wickets with his medium pace bowling.

Indeed, Basil played an integral part in arguably the club's finest moment, by producing key contributions in several games leading to victory in the John Haig National Knock Out Trophy at Lords in 1981 - he was also a member the First XI Birmingham League championship winning teams in 1984 and 1985.

Off the field, Basil was a genial presence around the Bar and a great friend, much admired by members and supporters.

More recently, he served the club on various Committees and remained a loyal and popular supporter.

Our thoughts, prayers and condolences are with Basil's wife, Barbara, three sons, Jamie, JD and Desmond and their young families.
